5 Key Tips to Design An Easy to Maintain School Toilet

School toilets are subject to heavy footfall which is why they tend to get dirty very quickly. That is why it is important to deploy an efficient maintenance staff that regularly cleans and maintains the toilets to ensure they stay clean and hygienic. The best place to start, however, is making sure that you install school toilet cubicles and other elements that are designed to promote easy cleaning and good hygiene. Continuing the discussion forward, we are going to look at five tips to keep in mind when designing a school toilet to ensure easy maintenance.

1. Go for a dry restroom design.

The conventional wet restroom design is losing popularity to the dry restroom design. That’s because wet restrooms are completely enclosed spaces that often develop a pungent smell as they are prone to the accumulation of moisture, dust, dirt, and stains.  Dry restrooms, on the other hand, are modular in nature and maintain a gap between the floor and the partition walls and doors, which helps keep the spaces dry and also promotes easy and thorough cleaning.

2. Choose a material with antimicrobial properties.

Post the coronavirus lockdown, it has become all the more imperative to ensure that public facilities are free from disease-causing pathogens. When designing school toilet facilities, make sure to go for school toilet cubicles and urinals that are made with materials that feature antimicrobial properties. This helps prevent the growth of disease causing pathogens and transmission through surface contact.

3. Install scratch and stain resistant school toilet cubicles.

School kids toilets are carefree, playful, and sometimes tend to be very careless when using school facilities such as toilets. As a result, school toilets take a lot of beating and are subject to heavy wear and tear. One effective way to tackle this issue is to install school toilet cubicles that are resistant to stains, scratches, and abrasion. It also makes the job of the maintenance team much easier as they do not have to engage in extensive cleaning regimes or use harsh cleaning agents.

4. Install ample urinals and cubicles.

When designing a school toilet, one must ensure there are ample urinals and cubicles in line with the foot traffic. This helps ensure that students have ready access to the facilities and also prevent heavy use that comes with limited facilities. Another benefit is that maintenance staff get ample opportunity to clean the toilet cubicles, partitions and urinals without inhibiting the students’ access.

5. Ensure proper ventilation.

Lack of proper ventilation in school toilets increases the risk of the development of disease-causing pathogens as well as cross-infection among students. It is, therefore, important to ensure proper ventilation as it helps get rid of any airborne disease causing germs. Proper ventilation also helps get rid of any bad odors thereby ensuring a pleasant experience for the students.
